how to Start with no Money

  • it’s not about filling a market gap… you start a Business, when you have a feeling

  • you start with what you like doing”…

  • often what you like doing, does not generate revenue… but that’s because you haven’t applied a business mindset to it

  • he succeded, even though there were many other businesses doing the same thing… no one loved what he did as much as he did

  • Do what you are good at and outsource what you are bad at

    • opposite to what School teaches you: when you are bad at smth, you got to invest time, to get good at it
    • and get better and better and better at what you love doing!!!

the first step

  • don’t make it too hard
    • because the first step is the hardest…
    • eg: post about your project on social media
    • a blog, post your photo s
    • for simon: make a podcast

next step: revenue

  • don’t have a clear revenue plan from the beginning… experiment with different ways to get money from what you love doing…
  • Airbnb sold cereal boxes at conventions (where ppl would rent a airbnb)
    • and used that money to develop the app

how to Win

  • you and your Business have a Purpose

  • you love, what you are doing (Passion)

  • Delayed Gradification

    • you don’t rush to get payed for customers
    • for his first customer, he did the first work for free…
      • once they were happy… they used him forever and recomended him to others…
    • rel: Facebook… fully free service for a long time… only when they had lots of users did they start with ads…
  • bring Value to your clients…

    • and care about them… instead of focusing on getting money
    • then they may even share you on their social media
  • hacking Luck

    • be Persistence
    • know your destination
      • what is success for you???
    • learn to take Risk
      • not hard work nececarily leads to success… (eg: nurses)… more it’s taking Risks

how to Loose

  • success is not like you are told at school (get an A Grade) (rel: Warum Einser-Schüler oft scheitern - Die unbequeme Wahrheit über Erfolg)

    • 80% of A-Students end up working for D-Students
  • fail and keep going

  • don’t let things own you…

  • let you short term ego go…

    • don’t worry abt driving around in a fancy car, to impress ppl, that don’t care abt you
    • it’s way better to look like a user… and ppl underestimate you … and then to prove them wrong
      • specially if your client underestimates you… things you won’t deliver, but you overdeliver…
  • take your time

    • and don’t let other ppl decied if you are succesfull

  • ideas for that business go out as arms

  • draw lines between things off your business, that can be connected

how to find purpose

  • if it’s only about money

    • ppl will want to pay you as little as possible…
    • everybody will want as much money from you as possible…
    • ppl or just not work with you as much…
  • if your business has purpose

    • ppl may just give you more anyway, bcs they identify with that purpose
  • this is what simon is most passionate about in this video…

    • aparently not taught at all in school
  • instead of “what are you gonna do, when you grow up” it should be “what problem are you going to solve”

  • in the old old times (when we were living in tribes)… we helped tribe members not for getting any mony, but for making the tribe better

    • so giving without getting (smth immediate)
  • make your Purpose and Day to Day life match…

    • if you found your Purpose (the problem you want to solve)… you can go and team up with other ppl, communities, tribes, with the same Purpose
      • finding those ppl is one purpose of PPC (priv notes)

how to find a co-founder

  • accountability… helps much much much

  • what do you love to do… and what do you hate to do???

    • cofounder shall fill your gaps… opposite skill, but same moral code and same Purpose
  • write down in much much detail how this person should be…
