• goal: improve level of Focus during Deep Work sessions

  • the idea: have a book laying on the desk next to you (and nothing much else other than your laptop), that you always unconsciously see (important) while working, whenever a thought comes up that is not about the exact thing you are working on, open the book, write it down (to get back later, you can skip this) and close the book again.

    • it makes your Brain ok with dropping the thought for now.. as you have written it down to get back (or not) later…
    • maybe the “accept the thought but get back to the object of focus” from medidation could achieve the same… minus all the hassle of writing it down.
  • outcome: I once did this when we had to write a essay at school. We had all the remaining lesson and should then finish it up as homework. I put on my noise canceling headphones, put on repeating instrumental music (my LockIn music) and had my Book of Depth next to me. At the end of the lesson I had twice as many words as others in my class and an almost complete essay.

  • I tried to use a computer program on the computer I was working on for this purpose (as I am faster typing than handwriting)… this did absolutely not work… maybe second small dedicated device with very small screen and keyboard could do… (book of depth device (otask))
